Demand NI is the controller of the personal information we collect to operate our website, manage orders and communicate with customers.

This policy explains how we use personal information when you visit demandni.com, purchase products, sign up for early access or contact us.

Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we collect:

  • Your email address when you sign up for early access.
  • Your name, email address, billing address, delivery address and any phone number supplied when placing an order.
  • Order details, including products, sizes, payment status, delivery information, cancellations and returns.
  • Information you provide in emails or other communications with us.
  • Account details if you choose to create a customer account.
  • Technical information, such as IP address, browser and device information, request logs and cookie information.

Payment details are processed by Shopify and the payment providers used at checkout. We receive payment confirmations and relevant transaction information, rather than storing your full payment card details in our own website database.

How we use your information

We use personal information for the following purposes:

Orders and delivery

We use your contact details, addresses and order information to process purchases, arrange delivery, provide order updates and manage cancellations, returns and refunds.

Our lawful basis is performance of our contract with you, including steps you request before entering into that contract.

Early access and email updates

When you sign up for early access, we use your email address to send early-access announcements and information about Demand drops.

Our lawful basis for these marketing emails is your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by emailing shop.demandni@gmail.com or using the unsubscribe option in a marketing email.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent us from sending necessary messages about an order you have placed.

Customer enquiries

We use information you provide to answer questions and resolve complaints. Our lawful basis is performance of a contract where an enquiry concerns your order, or our legitimate interest in responding to other enquiries and providing customer support.

Security

We use relevant technical and transaction information to protect our website, prevent misuse and investigate suspected fraud. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in protecting our business and customers.

Legal and accounting obligations

We retain and use information where necessary to meet legal obligations, including accounting requirements and responding to valid requests from public authorities.

Providers we use

We share information where necessary with providers that help us operate our business:

  • Shopify, for the product catalogue, checkout, customer records and order management.
  • Payment providers, to process payments and refunds.
  • Vercel, to host and operate the custom Demand website.
  • Supabase, to store early-access signup email addresses.
  • Email providers, to deliver customer communications and email updates.
  • Delivery carriers, to deliver orders.
  • Professional advisers or public authorities, where necessary for accounting, legal obligations or resolving disputes.

Early-access signup information is stored separately from Shopify’s customer and order records.

We do not give other businesses our early-access mailing list for their own marketing.

Shopify’s use of information

Shopify processes personal information to provide checkout and other commerce services.

Depending on the Shopify features enabled for our store, Shopify may also process information for its own purposes, including security, service improvement and features that use information from interactions across participating stores.

Where Shopify acts as a controller for its own processing, its privacy policy explains that processing and the rights available to you:

Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy

You can also submit relevant privacy requests directly to Shopify through its Privacy Portal.

Cookies and similar technologies

Our website and checkout use cookies or similar technologies where needed for functions such as secure access, shopping sessions, checkout and fraud prevention.

Additional analytics, advertising or personalisation technologies may depend on the features enabled on our website and Shopify services. Where consent is legally required, we will ask for it before using those technologies.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings and any privacy controls provided on the website or checkout. Blocking essential cookies may prevent some features from working.

How long we keep information

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

  • Order and payment records are retained for applicable accounting, tax and legal requirements.
  • Customer correspondence is retained for as long as necessary to resolve the enquiry and deal with related disputes.
  • Early-access signup details are retained while your subscription remains active, subject to periodic review.
  • Technical and security records are retained for as long as reasonably necessary to operate and protect our services.

If you unsubscribe, we stop using your details for marketing. We may retain a minimal record of your unsubscribe request so that we do not contact you again accidentally.

Retention decisions take account of the purpose of the information, legal requirements and any unresolved complaint or dispute.

International processing

Our providers may process or store information outside the United Kingdom.

Where UK data protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we must ensure an appropriate transfer arrangement is in place. This may include transfers to countries recognised as providing adequate protection or approved contractual safeguards.

You can contact us for further information about the arrangements relevant to your information.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights to:

  • Access your personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of your information.
  • Restrict certain processing.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Receive or transfer certain information in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

These rights are subject to legal conditions and exceptions. For example, we may need to retain order records to meet legal obligations even after a deletion request.

To exercise your rights, email shop.demandni@gmail.com. We may request information reasonably necessary to confirm your identity. We will normally respond within one month, with any permitted extension explained to you.

Keeping information secure

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including restricting access to the people and providers who need it.

Please do not send full payment card details, passwords or unnecessary identity documents by email.

Children

Our early-access signup is not directed at children. If you believe a child has supplied personal information that should not be held by us, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Complaints

If you have concerns about how we use your information, contact shop.demandni@gmail.com.

You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office:

We may update this policy when our services or information practices change. The latest version will be available on our website with an updated date. Where required, we will notify you of significant changes.
